Steppin' Out (now retired from performing) was Dennis and Brenda a two piece duet that worked together as full time professional musicians from the early 1970's, working in several larger bands before breaking off into Steppin' Out in the 1980's.   They worked extensively in and around the Houston, Clear Lake and Galveston, Texas area.

In 1987 they were offered the house band position at The Renaissance PineIsle Resort Hotel just outside of Atlanta Georgia on Lake Lanier Islands.  They worked there for 17 years and on January 1st, 2005 they moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas to be close to their family. They performed at several country clubs and for private functions in the Fort Smith area before they finally decided to hang it up for good.

Dennis still owns and operates their recording studio - SmithTrax Recording Studio and is still connected to the music industry that way recording bands, creating soundtracks and recording karaoke singers. He also does video production (tv commercials, training videos, marketing videos) as well as website design. Visit the studio website if you get a chance at www.smithtrax.com.

Brenda is now a Social Services Director for a local nursing home in Fort Smith. She wrote and recorded a Christian album Christmas 2011 and occasionally sings at churches and other venues when asked. You can read more about her music ministry at www.brendasmith.us.

As for Dennis and Brenda as Steppin’ Out, their song repertoire was very versatile covering many musical genres from oldies, pop, jazz to country and even some Christian music when the occasion arose.  Sound clips of Steppin' Out can be heard on the Audio Clips link.

Although retired they have kept this website up for the many friends they have made through the years and have reconnected with many wonderful lost friends due to the presence of this website. We hope to reconnect with many more of you for years to come.
